The SEE is administered by the National Board for Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). The SEE is a mandatory requirement for students during Year 2 of the program. It serves the following primary functions:
- To provide information to students about their progress in the nurse anesthesia program.
- To prepare students for the certification examination experience.
- To inform Program Directors about how well the programs prepare students with the knowledge and skills required for anesthesia clinical practice.
- The program recommends taking the SEE exam twice: once at the beginning of the 2nd year and once at the beginning of the 3rd year. A minimum score of 437 is recommended for the second exam.
