Students are allotted 24 personal days during the 20 months of Phase 2. Time off is arranged by the student with the clinical site coordinators and reported by the student to the DNAP program.

  • Students will not take scheduled days off during specialty/enrichment rotations.
  • Students will not take more than 12 consecutive days off at a time without specific clinical site coordinator and program director permission.
    • Request for greater than 10 vacations days off must be in writing and no fewer than one month’s advanced notice.
    • It is encouraged to schedule time off three months in advance. Each student is encouraged to reach out to their clinical coordinator for site specific requirements.
  • Students are not permitted to take all 24 days of vacation at the end of the program. It is encouraged to split the time off equitably between the two years of full-time clinical rotations.

An unexcused absence from clinical practicum, any course, or educational meeting endorsed by the DNAP program will generate a day removed from the student’s bank of permissive time off. Unexcused absences from those areas are considered insubordinate. In this event, the   student faces the possibility of further corrective action.  Unexcused Absences is defined as:

  • The Course Director, Program Director, or Clinical Coordinator has not given absence permission to the student prior to the absence.
  • The student has not presented an acceptable excuse to the course instructor or DNAP program administration after the absence
