Course and Faculty Evaluations

Students are expected to provide constructive feedback regarding their courses and instructors. This responsibility is fulfilled, in part, through participation in course evaluations required by the University. Students may also be required to complete additional course and faculty evaluations as specified by their individual academic programs.

Students are expected to complete evaluations in a professional and constructive manner to ensure that meaningful feedback is provided. Student feedback contributes to the ongoing improvement of the curriculum and supports faculty in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of instruction.

In accordance with accrediting bodies, including the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), and the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), the evaluation process is conducted confidentially across all programs, including didactic courses and clinical clerkships/rotations. Evaluative comments are shared with appropriate faculty and administrators, and the identities of students associated with those comments are generally kept confidential.

However, there are limited circumstances in which a student’s identity may be disclosed. In rare cases, if a student’s feedback explicitly or implicitly suggests or threatens harm to themselves or others, or reports an unprofessional, discriminatory, unsafe, or illegal clinical environment, the University may disclose the student’s identity and associated comments in order to appropriately investigate and address the concern.
